Looking to run a parkrun PB? These are our top tips!

1️⃣ INCORPORATE STRENGTH TRAINING
▪️𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 to help increase your stride length, and improve your efficiency and recovery.
▪️𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗿𝘂𝗻-𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 to help increase your tissue tolerance to prevent injuries, and your ability to absorb and create force (stronger glutes and hamstrings = greater speed potential!)
▪️𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 because a strong arm drive matters!

2️⃣ VARY YOUR WEEKLY RUNS
▪️𝗩𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 to help improve your stamina and speed - solely running all-out 5k efforts over and over in a bid to improve your PB isn’t the most effective way to knock minutes off your time.
▪️𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘀 to help build speed and endurance, and consider monitoring your heart rate over your pace - as your speed goes up, you want to train your heart rate to stay down.
▪️𝗦𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽 because not every run should be an intended PB - running slower will help build your base fitness, as well as ensure you’re not overcooking it.
▪️𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 into your training routes, and that next park run route will feel that bit easier!

3️⃣ PRIORITISE YOUR RECOVERY
▪️𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is key for recovery, ensuring you’re refreshed and ready to go again for your next session.
▪️𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝟭% hacks can be a great tool to achieve just that - be it muscle balms, cold water immersion, sauna sessions, sports massages or supplements, they’ll all support the hard work you’re putting into training.

Last week we had the privilege of heading down to Bulford Healthcare Facility to deliver a tailored education seminar to Physios and Exercise Rehabilitation Instructors at the MOD.

The Seminar was predominantly centred around the lower body, specifically looking at mechanics, load placement and the progression pathway used within mid-late stage rehab, as well as returning to running.

We shared the proven methods and systems that we use within The Movement Blueprint that continue to forge huge success for the clients we work with.
